Intravenous sedation is a safe and effective way of relaxing the body to allow dental treatment to be carried out easily for anxious patients. It involves the use of a sedative into a vein (either in your arm or back of your hand) which although keeps you conscious, ensures you feel deeply relaxed but you will still be
able to understand and respond to requests from the dentist. You may
be unaware of the operation and this form of treatment is ideal for
patients who wish to avoid the noise and vibration of the drill.
IV sedation has four main effects:
• It will reduce your anxiety and make you feel relaxed.
• It will make you feel sleepy.
• It will make you less aware of the procedure.
• It will result in partial – or total loss of memory of the procedure.
At Tailor & Co Dental, we are extremely privileged to have the services of Dr Oliver Tabbenor, a highly qualified doctor and dentist, who is able to ensure your sedation journey is seamless.
